The behavior of capacitor

The smaller the Farad = The faster the electric charge is release
The larger the Farad = The slower the electric charge is release


  • In oscillation circuit of flashing light use smaller farad capacitor to make the flash faster otherwise user larger farad to make the flash slower

The larger the voltage rating = It can withstand charge of electric within that range
The smaller the voltage rating = The less it can withstand higher voltage charges

The capacitor is used parallel with the connection to the output

Why the motor start capacitor has very small Farad rating but high voltage - It's because it need to release the current faster to get the motor going but at the same time it need high voltage rating so that it can withstand high voltage. If the source current voltage higher the voltage on the capacitor it will damage the capacitor or perhaps blown it up

There are two polarity types of capacitors

1. Non-polarity capacitor usually ceramic capacitors - non polarity capacitors does not need have the positive and negative end which means positive and negative from the current source can be connected to either side of the leg and it does not matter and it will always work

2. Capacitors with polarity are those with negative and positive end and must be connected correctly in order to works

1. AC/Alternating Current - pulse back and forth just like radio wave and sound wave
2. Test whether transistor is faulty
3. Test the amount of electromagnetic field produce within tesla coil
4. The amount of power required to power tesla coil
5. The number of turns and diameter and the wire size to determine how much power required.
6. Direction of turn
7. Why after a few times on off the tesla coil dies and won't work anymore
